Beetles

Just the name alone sounds unimposing. However, do not let that fool you because the beetle can be one of the biggest and most annoying nuisances you’ll come across in your state. As a matter of fact, they are the biggest nuisance anyone will face. The reason for this is because they are the largest group of living organisms known to man. They are even more prevalent than the plant. Absolutely fascinating when you set down and think about it. This means, every 1 out of 5 organisms you encounter daily is considered a beetle. You can already imagine the problems this could create. Therefore, it is imperative to educate yourself as fully as possible when it comes to this crawling nuisance.

What Are Beetles?

With the information above, you don’t need to be a professional exterminator to draw the conclusion, beetles are the most common type of insect in the world. They are literally everywhere. Given this, they can and oftentimes are mistaken for other creepy crawlers, especially true bugs. Therefore, it is important to learn how to differentiate. The first thing you need to keep an eye on is the wings. Most insects have front and back wings, but this is where the beetle really differs.

The beetle does have both a front and back pair of wings, but they are in a hardened case that specifically protects the delicate flying wings beneath. Despite being referred to as flying wings, these utensils are not used for such. In fact, the beetle doesn’t even possess the ability to take flight. There are over three hundred known species of the beetle that exist and many of these play a crucial role in the world’s ecosystem.

This makes it even all that much more important to understand what type you are dealing with. The reason the beetle is commonly mistaken for true bugs is that these creepy crawlers also have wings that are designed similarly. This being said, it is only just a portion of the true bug’s wings that are hardened and thickened. The outer half is nearly clear. The best way to distinguish between the two similar pests is by examining the mouthparts. Beetles’ mouths are always designed for chewing.

They contain physical attributes that allow them to pierce and suck with the utmost efficiency, Flip the bug over, look underneath its head, and you’ll see a piercing-sucking mouth part. This is, of course, if you are dealing with a beetle.

How To Properly Identify The Beetle

With such a prevalent presence, you can already imagine just how hard it is to distinguish between the different classifications of the beetle. And this will be imperative because dealing with specific classes could require different approaches than others. Unfortunately, it would be nearly impossible for the average human being to learn all the different classes of the beetle and how to distinguish between them. There are just too many. This is even a task that’s proven quite difficult for us.

Some of the members are active by day and some can be seen cruising in parks and gardens, although there are some that you’ll really have to search for. The Dor beetle would be the perfect example. It is one that is mostly found on dung-strewn grassland. The carrion beetle, on the other hand, would be considered the undertaker of the beetle population, as it seeks out corpses to plant its grubs in.

Regardless, it doesn’t take a pro to see what a prevalent problem the beetle stands to be. Identifying and eliminating them for the property is, unfortunately, no easier. As a result, you’ll want to keep our information close. Just give our local office a call and we’ll get someone out to the property immediately.
